February 2010 - joys of friendship
If there was a theme in February, it is the joy of
catching up with lost friendships. The astrological link for this is the
connection of first Venus and from around 12th the Sun to Neptune, Chiron in
Aquarius and later in Jupiter in Pisces. The New Moon in Aquarius on 14th (13th in the Americas) lands on Neptune and Chiron. Here is an opportunity for to realise how we are all part of one huge family beyond the confines of race, gender or social class. At this time, idealistic plans for the future take a step
forward and the impossible appears possible. Air signs (Aquarius, Libra and
Gemini) love the bonhomie and the planning. Other Fixed and Earth signs (Leo, Scorpio,
Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn), however will feel the lack of definition and
solidity to be disappointing. Other signs that move with their intuitive flow
(Pisces, Cancer, Sag and Aries) accept that ‘what will be … will be’.
Astrology & the Bitter Freeze of 2010
Looking back, 2010 began with a bitter freeze throughout the northern
hemisphere from the Blue Moon Lunar Eclipse on New Year's Eve.
Retrograde Mercury and Mars coincided with harsh disruption of
travel, work and education. In the UK on 5th January, only 44% of the work
force made it into work. The good news is that Mercury is not retrograde again
until 18 April - not that it should be a 'bad' experience.

What does the Pope, Bill Gates & Obama share?
By mid January, the long partial solar eclipse [15th]
brought small events that signify a handover of responsibility in the future.
Eclipse relates to opportunities for greater responsibilities as someone cannot carry on resulting in self-esteem. [Acc. B.Brady, Saros Cycle: #141/12N]
Here's four events around the eclipse that may prove to be highly significant:
- The Vatican criticised the movie Avatar for it’s ‘new age spirituality’. The Pope may be
green but he draws the line at Pantheism.
- Bill Gates finally caught up with the social network revolution by tweeting on Twitter. The Eclipse fell on his descendant connected with interaction with the public.
- The eclipse fell on Obama’s Saturn. For Obama, the loss of the Kennedy stronghold: Massachusetts to
the Republicans signalled the limits of his authority. Obama is recognising that he may not make his second term.
- Finally, Steve Jobs performed his usual dramatic launch for the iPad, but having suffered ill health over the past five years, he looked frail and the presentation lacked his usual sparkle. It cannot be long before this genius must hand over his tight reins on Apple's impeccable design standards.
 The Vatican's newspaper L'Osservatore Romano commented that James Cameron's movie 'Avatar'gets bogged down by a spiritualism linked to the worship of nature. What interested me was the observation that the Pope was known as the Green Pope. Maybe this was what Malachi meant when he prophesied this Papacy was 'De gloriae olivae'... more
Minor event at the Eclipse signifies major shift in duties.
Maybe, you
experienced a minor event at the eclipse that will later be seen as the start of
a major shift in responsibility especially in connection with parenthood at this
time. Remember with astrology looking back and being conscious in the present
is more important than trying to second-guess the future. Better to know how to
handle what lies on the road ahead than try to know what lies ahead.
