Standard 2012 Wisdom: Mayan Calendar & the Earth's Pulse
Crackpot and extreme predictions for 2012 continue to mushroom. However, information
from solid sources is starting to suggest that something significant is going to
occur. Unless you have been in solitary confinement for the past few years, you
will have heard about the end of the four thousand year Mayan Long calendar.
This and a number of other theories (such as the increasing speed of the Earth’s
pulse towards a significant Fibonacci number and converting the I-Ching into a
time graph) presage the possibility of a radically new timetable in
2012.
In terms of astrology, it is much less clear. The much vaunted alignment of
the Solstice Point with the Galactic Centre is very gradual and takes place over
half a century rather than on December 21st, 2012. The planetary alignments
over the next two years are arguably more significant than those in 2012. The most prominent
alignment is the continuing conjunction of Chiron and Neptune in Pisces – offering a wonderful opportunity
for enlightenment and a sense of oneness with the Universe. On the mundane
level, the national charts for the U.K., Australia, China and Russia do suggest
profound changes.
Recently, some extraordinary news relating to 2012
is coming from the scientific community. Cosmologist and physicist, Michio Kaku
warns that the 11-year Sun Spot cycle hits a low in 2012. As a result of the
radiation burst as the Sun's poles reverse, the Earth’s satellite system including Internet, telecom, TV,
weather monitoring and GPS could break down.
Then from
NASA, there’s a lot of new astronomical data coming in about Saturn[1]. A
vast new ring around Saturn was discovered and later it transpired that the
rings had changed shape since Voyager’s visit in 1982. Saturn (or Chronos)
rules time and any stargazer worth his or her salt will ponder whether these new
discoveries will affect time or our perception of time.
But the most
bizarre speculation comes from an article in the Sunday Times [Review Oct. 19].
Two physicists came up with a strange theory as to why the Large Hadron Collider
(LHC) at Cern has been beset by strange setbacks. They suggest that supernatural
forces such as people from the future are sabotaging it. Why? Maybe the LHC
experiment will wreak dreadful consequences for our future world. While this
sounds too far fetched to imagine, consider that scientists have evidence that
it is now possible to travel faster than the speed of light (Einstein’s cosmic
speed limit). This break through means that time travel is conceivable. But to
travel at these speeds space and time must be contorted. This occurs in and
around a black hole in space. Wait a minute! ... One of the objectives of the LHC
experiment in Cern is to create a mini black hole on Earth. Could they be about
to create the portal that permits time travel and changes the universe as we
know it?
Of course, we could wake up on New Year’s Day 2013 and find
that 2012 was a bad dream and our world is virtually unchanged!
[1]According the astronomers, new data is coming from Saturn since it crossed the Equinoctal point enabling views across the rings unobscured by shadows from the Sun's rays.
