Looking primarily at the chart for the moment the first jet hit one of the twin towers, plus the charts for the USA and George Bush, using astrology and other sources has brought me to the following conclusions:

• That the attack originated from Islamic Fundamentalism. The symbolism of Pluto in Sagittarius on the US ascendant challenged by Saturn.
• That Bin Laden was not directly behind it - even if he was once the terrorist's mentor, financier and trainer. Though a world leader, probably Saddam Hussein was a key distant sponsor. The Sun 12th suggests a 'behind the scenes' architect of the scheme the T square to Pluto in 2nd house and Saturn suggests there is government funding but there is a serious conflict of aims between the group and the financial backers.
• That this was perpetrated by young men (Mercury rising trine Saturn in Gemini & Sun in Virgo) who were very judgmental of other people's lifestyles (Saturn on 9th house cusp) and intolerant of eclectic religious thought (Saturn in Gemini in 9th).
• That they were angry young reactionaries (Mars in Capricorn in 3rd) whose motive was to undermine the American way of family life and consumer culture. (Mars opposite Moon in Cancer and Jupiter in Cancer).
• That they had a paranoid fear that American culture by it's very existence will corrupt their Islamic traditional way of life. (Pluto Sag square Sun in Virgo in 12th opposite Saturn).
• That besides religion, the terrorists took issue with the matriarchal role of women in the family in America (Mars opposite Moon in Cancer) and the freedom of American women enjoy to be themselves and in their eyes to attract attention unashamedly. (Venus in Leo opposite Uranus)
• That ecological damage by America was considered another 'impurity'. (Sun in Virgo in 12th).
• That like the Oklahoma bombing, the attack actually came from within rather than from outside. With Mercury rising at the time of the attack, the terrorists were well educated, apparently without fear and no doubt familiar with the American way of life. It will in years to come transpire that some were brought up as Americans or in the west. This complies with the pattern set by Pluto transiting the American ascendant, with various horrific shootings at educational establishments most notoriously Columbine in Denver. Pluto crossing the ascendant is also time to look within for solutions even though the origin of this attack was from forces outside the USA.
