Neptune in Aquarius [from 1998]

Aquarian Anarchy at the Brit Awards.

There's been no better symbolic example of Neptune in Aquarius than what happened to British Deputy Prime Minister, John Prescott at the Brit Pop Awards in London. Because the Brit awards are an award ceremony for British pop groups, they don't quite get the worldwide publicity of other events like the Oscar Ceremony. So every year there always seems to be some outrageous event to guarantee front-page news the next day.

This year it was the unlucky turn of John Prescott. While he was quietly sitting at his table with his wife, along came anarchist, Danbert Nobacon from radical pop group, Chuwumbamumba. To the Prescott's utter shock, Nobacon suddenly emptied a bucket of ice cold water onto them.

A Fish out of Water!

The symbolism was almost perfect. Prescott was and is wonderfully Neptunian. He worked his way to the top of politics from being a ship's steward aboard luxury liners via the transport unions. (Neptune rules the sea). You may well ask what was a 50-something Suit doing there. He would have been happier dancing to the 'hokey-cokey' than being at such an avant garde event for young things. More Tiller Girls than Spice Girls. [Neptune is associated with musical creativity, misguided judgements, pretence and false images.]

About as normal as a Goldfish in Space.

Then we have Nobacon representing Aquarius and Uranus [which incidentally is now very strong in Aquarius]. Nobacon is an anarchist. [Aquarius is associated with freedom from restrictive rules]. Ardent vegetarian, Nobacon is also blissfully Aquarian. He swans around with his shaved baldhead in black leather mini skirts, but calls his middle-class Mum & Dad every week for a chat. Nobacon (real name Nigel Hunter) probably doesn't think of himself as being odd, abnormal or unusual in any way!

A revolution without an aim or desperate publicity stunt.

I've got nothing against Nobacon. I am sure he is very cool. But I can't help feeling his band must be fairly desperate and their music very average to have to pull a publicity stunt like that for their 15 minutes of Warholian fame. Publicity stunts are fine, but do they have to be at the expense of other people? And if it is a statement as his parents' claim, what does it mean? Prescott has taken time out to take an interest in his music. He can help the music business. But then Neptune in Aquarius is all about making statements that make no sense!

I remember as a student that the trouble with the anarchy society was that no one turned up to the meetings! [Sorry old joke but appropriate for Neptune/Aquarius!]
